2010 ferrari 599 - further underscore its sportiness and handling
When it first debuted, the 599 GTB Fiorano set a new standard in terms of performance that remains a benchmark for new sports car development to this day. Now Ferrari is introducing the new Handling GTE (Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione) package for the model to further underscore its sportiness and handling.
The package includes a modified set-up with stiffer springs and rear anti-roll bar as well as new calibration settings for the magnetorheological shock absorbers when the manettino is at its sportier settings. The ride height has also been lowered which in turn lowers the car's centre of gravity. This combined with the new set-up helps improve body control. The package also includes specifically optimised tyres featuring a compound that offers even better grip.
The car's electronics have also evolved to ensure even more prompt response to driver commands. The F1 gearbox's shifts are now even faster in high-performance settings, while a new engine software strategy has improved accelerator response.
The exhaust silencer has also been modified with the result producing an even more marked and thrilling sound under hard usage whilst still delivering just the right comfort levels at cruising speed.
From a styling point of view, the package also includes some distinctively sporty exterior and interior features with carbon-fibre widely used in the latter. The 20" split-rim wheels are new with a special diamond-cut and matte silver finish. The rear diffuser is finished in matte black to underscore the car's new set-up and highlight the chromed tail pipes. The cabin is sportier too thanks to a sophisticated mix of full-grain leather, black Alcantara® and carbon-fibre trim.
The new seats are trimmed in a new two-tone combination of leather with black Alcantara® inserts, and the seat backs are trimmed entirely in carbon-fibre. Embroidered in contrasting stitching on the headrest are a Prancing Horse and the words "Handling GTE".

The F430 Spider joins the F430 as the latest addition to the new generation of Ferrari V8-engined sports cars. The Spider boasts all of the F430's stunning technology, itself the product of a close working relationship with Ferrari's Gestione Sportiva F1 racing division. The F430 Spider's all-aluminium bodywork has also been carefully strengthened as has its chassis to guarantee both occupant safety and the structural rigidity demanded by a car as high performance as this. Two very robust steel roll-bars are integrated into the windshield structure to guarantee maximum occupant protection. The electric hood is fully automatic and folds away under its own flush-fitting tonneau cover, allowing Ferrari's engineers to carefully hone the aerodynamics of the car with the hood down.

This crossover SUV seats up to seven and shares some of its basic design with the Ford Edge. CX-9 continues to come in Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trim levels, each available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The sole powertrain is a 273-hp 3.7-liter V6 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 3500 lb. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. Seating includes folding benches; the 2nd row splits 60/40, the 3rd row 50/50. The 2nd-row seat reclines and slides fore and aft to favor passenger or cargo space. Tri-zone climate control and a tilt and telescopic steering wheel are standard on all models, along with a wireless cell phone link. Tourings have leather upholstery and heated power front seats. Grand Tourings include blind-spot alert, xenon headlights, keyless access and engine start, and 20-inch wheels vs 18s. A sunroof and DVD entertainment remain optional, but they cannot be ordered together. A navigation system is optional on Grand Touring.
The 2010 CX-9 is powered by a 273-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 engine, making the most complex pursuits as easy and as pleasurable as possible. The 60-degree short-stroke V6 is state-of-the-art throughout. Advanced features include a die-cast aluminum block with cast-in iron cylinder liners and aluminum cylinder heads for minimal weight. The valvetrain includes chain-driven dual overhead camshafts for minimal maintenance, four valves-per-cylinder with direct acting bucket-type actuators, and variable intake valve timing. A high 10.3:1 compression ratio maximizes efficiency and power output while the throttle is electronically controlled for instantaneous response. Two close-coupled catalytic converters cleanse the exhaust without inhibiting power.
The CX-9 is doing things differently, but it's also doing things right. Reviewers love its attractive exterior, nimble performance and safety features. Still, many traditional large SUV buyers may be put off with its limited towing capacity and a ride that some reviewers call stiff. If the CX-9 isn't brawny enough to handle your needs, check out the more-capable Chevrolet Tahoe. If you like the CX-9, compare it to other large crossovers like the GMC Acadia and Ford Flex. Both cost about the same as the CX-9, seat just as many, and get slightly better gas mileage.
For 2010, the CX-9 gets a slight refresh. The exterior styling has been updated, as have a few of the interior features. New upholstery and trim are offered, and a few convenience features, like the heated seats and key fob, on the higher trims have been upgraded. The available rearview camera also has a wider viewing angle, and the navigation system's LCD display is slightly larger than before. Mechanically, the CX-9 is pretty much unchanged.

The 2010 Miata is a dream, especially for sports car enthusiasts on a budget. It's quick, agile, great on gas and reliable too. In fact, Edmunds describes it as "a lightweight, balanced and responsive roadster that delivers the very best in wind-in-the-hair driving at an affordable price."
Still, critics report that competitors like the Honda S2000 and Nissan 370Z offer stronger engines and faster off-the-line performance. In fact, shoppers looking for a stronger on-track performer may very well be better off with the S2000's Club Racer Trim -- which not only provides 70 more horsepower, but is specially tuned for the racing circuit. The 370Z, on the other hand, out powers the Miata by a whopping 165 ponies and is, arguably, more comfortable to ride in. Neither, however, trumps the Miata in terms of handling. In that regard, few vehicles at this price point can compete with the Miata.

The 2010 Mazda RX7 is based on the MX5 platform. A 1986 redesign added size and a convertible body style, but neither did much for sales. Accordingly, Mazda went back to basics for a third-generation 1993 RX-7 coupe but turbocharged the engine to over 250 horsepower. Enthusiasts loved it, but a weak dollar-to-yen exchange made it too expensive to draw sufficient U.S. sales, so Mazda pulled the plug after 1995--but only in America. The RX-7 continued into the new century for Japan, Europe, and other overseas markets, even as Mazda rolled out the four-door, four-passenger RX-8.
who wouldn't welcome an updated balls out sports car like the rx-7. The rx-8 has brought much shame to the rx family - at least amongst performance oriented enthusiasts; and it is time to bring back the glory. Immersed in the thought of a new Rx-7 I got on my computer (actually I was already on my computer) and searched, and searched. I ran in to a couple sources but like a doctor telling you that you are going to die, I needed a second, third and fourth opinion. You see, the few sources I came across spoke blasphemous words of electric motor and 2+2 seating on a Mazda 5 platform. How can this be? This is worse than bringing a hot chick home from the bar only to find out she is a dude (I do not speak from experience).
The 2010 RX-7 should be no less unique a sports car as the predecessors to the line were. It's too early to tell whether or not it will live up to the hype as it is in the design phase. RX-7 fans have been waiting for over 10 years for a successor to the throne and they can certainly wait a year more for it to come to fruition. Our recommendation is to be ready to move once it hits the dealer floor. With a likely high demand in the first season consumers will have to get on it if they want one before their friends. Also, like the RX-8, this car is partly a technology and image flagship, so Mazda won't be looking for big sales. Indeed, availability might even be capped at, say, 25,000-30,000 units a year to maintain both exclusivity and resale values.

With Acura’s upcoming 2010 ZDX crossover-coupe-whatever setting the tone for the brand in terms of refinement and technology, its once techno-trendsetting MDX sibling is looking a bit long in the tooth. Indeed, the second-gen MDX—which placed first of eight in our last shootout of $50,000 SUVs—has sat relatively unchanged since its 2007 debut, and this fact, combined with a number of newly engineered goodies also used in the ZDX, makes this year the perfect time for an update.
The latest MDX features a new 3.7-liter SOHC VTEC V6 with 300 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, which Acura says now features more heavy-duty parts for extra longevity. Acura has replaced the five-speed automatic transmission with a new six-speed transmission, bringing EPA fuel economy to an estimated 16/21 mpg for city/highway driving.
The 2010 MDX is engineered to surpass the existing FMVSS 216 government roof crush test standard of 1.5 times the curb weight of the vehicle. However, the MDX is so well engineered that it is anticipated to already meet the upcoming roof crush standard of 3.0 times curb weight. Efficient use of high-strength steel creates a body structure with the stiffness to allow such results while still permitting the use a large glass moonroof.

That V-6 is the same 3.5-liter, 24-valve, SOHC V-6 found in the front-wheel-drive TL. It's still rated at 280 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque, which represents a 79 hp and 84 lb-ft jump over the 2.4-liter I-4. Helping channel that power are new 20-inch wheels and larger disc brakes, which are exclusive to the TSX V-6.
The V6 in the TSX is the same 3.5-liter unit found in the base TL, meaning 280 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque are being channeled to the front wheels. Unsurprisingly, the 50 percent bump in torque is immediately noticeable. Unfortunately, the mantra that torque is good and more torque is better is largely targeted at rear-wheel-drive cars, or at least front drivers that know what to do with it. Sadly, the TSX doesn't seem to fit into that category. At the launch event for the TSX V6, Acura representatives identified the BMW 335i, Lexus IS350 and Audi A4 3.2 as the chief competitors for this new model. Leaving the rear-wheel-drive Bimmer and Lexus out of the mix, we've got to focus on the the A4 – although it's no longer available in the U.S. with a V6. It did, however, come equipped with standard quattro all-wheel drive last year. Which begs the question: Honda has a fantastic torque vectoring all-wheel drive system in every other model in its lineup, so why isn't it available on the TSX? This omission is truly unfortunate.

If the regular V6-powered Camaro lacks the horsepower you're looking for, perhaps it's time to take a look at the V8-motivated Camaro SS. The high-performance 2010 model first arrived at dealers in early 2009 as a 2010 mode, with a sticker price of $30,995 -- a figure that significantly undercuts the $39,320 Dodge Challenger SRT8. The car is also considerably more affordable than the Mustang GT500, but the Ford is admittedly more powerful and exclusive.
